The lift is out of service awaiting repair. Until it is repaired, the museum and community space on the first floor can only be reached by stairs. We will update this page as soon as the lift is back in service.

What you will find

The museum is on the first floor of the Freight House. TODO: content from the museum working group. Themes planned:

  • The railway. How the line reached Rochford in 1889, the station, the goods yard, and the people who worked here.
  • The building. The goods shed itself: how it worked, what passed through it, and how it has been used since.
  • The town. Rochford’s market, the Hall, the mills and the wider district.
